- ±12 How to make a Pause Switch

-
- ±11Don't you hate it when the phone
- calls just when you are reading a
- scrolltext? Didn't you wish every
- demos had a pause switch? (Or a
- game...) Now this can be a reality!
- And it is simple too. All you need
- is a switch, wire and a solder iron,
- but be aware that your warranty will
- be lost (if you have any). (Probably
- not..) Well, open the cover of the
- computer, and unscrew the metal
- cover. Now you should have access to
- the expansion port to the left side
- of your Amiga. It looks something
- like this seen from above:

- Pin 1 = Ground
- Pin 55 = Halt
-
- Means that it is active low. When
- conected to ground, Halt is active
- and the MPU stops as long as the
- switch is on.
-
- Connect Pin 1 to the middle of the
- switch. Connect Pin 55 to one end of
- the switch. (It doesn't matter
- which.)
-
- Note that you will only have access
- to the odd pins from above. ±13 Don't
- ever count these pins using even
- numbers!× The even pins are found
- under the machine!
-
- ±12Now you are done!× Note that you will
- only pause the MPU. No other
- circuits are halted. Therefore you
- will still hear sound in the speaker
- and still see picture on the screen
- when you pause the computer. In
- other words the DMA will still be
- active and so is the copper! But the
- running program will stop! Simple?
- Now you can go and get the phone or
- eat dinner and visit your girlie!ç
